slips, trips and falls training from HSE

Take action to prevent slips, trips and falls

Slips, trips and falls are the leading cause of major injuries in the workplace but are almost entirely preventable, often with simple inexpensive interventions.

HSE's 1 day course, 'Slips and Trips - Falls Prevention', will help you understand the causes of slips, trips and falls, and highlight successful interventions that can help you to reduce workplace falls.

Previous attendees of our slip, trip and fall training courses have reported a reduction in incidents of up to 50%.

'Slips and Trips - Falls Prevention' will be presented at HSE's laboratory in Buxton, Derbyshire on Tuesday 12 February 2019.

stair falls

How safe are your stairs at work?

In the UK there is a fall on stairs every 90 seconds.

Properly understanding both stair design and human performance is the key to managing risk.

Simple, cost-effective improvements to existing stairs can significantly reduce the risk of a serious fall.

HSE's 1 day course - 'Stair Assessment' - will help you understand the design features of stairs that can give rise to a risk of falling, and identify simple remedial improvements to reduce this risk.

To be held on Wednesday 13 February 2019 at HSE's Laboratory in Buxton, Derbyshire, 'Stair Assessment' will equip you with the knowledge and skills to assess stairs in your own premises, and identify examples of good and bad practice.

Manual Handling for Assessors

Assess and reduce manual handling risks

Manual handling is one of the main causes of musculoskeletal disorders (MSD), which are the second most common occupational injuries within the UK.

HSE has published a simple but effective risk assessment method called the MAC tool.  This identifies key manual handling risk factors so that these can be addressed in the most cost effective way.

Additionally, HSE's 1 day course on 'Manual Handling for Assessors' will equip you with the knowledge to help recognise, assess and reduce manual handling risks in your organisation.

Manual Handling for Assessors will next be held at HSE's laboratory in Buxton, Derbyshire on Wednesday 27 February 2019.

Site and Transport Safety

Site and Transport Safety

Vehicle movements and loading and unloading vehicles can be some of the most dangerous work activities organisations carry out.

HSE is running a 1 day training course, 'Site and Transport Safety' on Thursday 28 February 2019 at its laboratory near Buxton, Derbyshire.

This training will help you understand the legal requirements of both road traffic law and workplace safety law, how and why things go wrong, and how you can take steps to reduce risk in your business.

The course is suitable for site managers and transport managers working in general haulage, retail, warehousing and distribution.
