Gain a new qualification:The NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and NEBOSH have jointly developed a new Occupational Safety and Health Qualification specifically for process industries.

A 5-day training course that leads to the new
NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management will be held
at HSE's laboratory near Buxton, Derbyshire from Monday 1 to Friday 5 April 2019.

The course focuses on the prevention of catastrophic accidents and near misses associated with loss of containment of energy or dangerous substances such as chemicals and hydrocarbons.

It is lead by tutors who have a wide range of process safety experience gained through HSE's activities in the onshore chemicals and offshore oil & gas industries.

Given the hazardous nature of these industries, this qualification has been designed to give process safety knowledge and understanding to managers, supervisors and safety professionals to ensure that they can contribute to the effective management of process safety risks.

Candidates are assessed by a 90 minute multiple choice examination. Those who successfully achieve certification will gain not only a sound breadth of process safety knowledge but also a recognised qualification that can enhance their career prospects.

Get full details of the course and qualification and BOOK YOUR PLACE NOW.

Can't make the April course? Later dates are available in June, October and December 2019.

Upper Limb Disorders:
Risk Assessment of Repetitive Tasks

Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) are the most common occupational illness in Britain affecting over 500,000 people a year.

Nearly half of these illnesses are joint injuries and repetitive strain injuries of various sorts affecting the upper limbs.

To support employers, health and safety professionals and inspectors with risk assessing repetitive work, HSE developed the Assessment of Repetitive Tasks (ART) tool. This can be used to assess the frequent handling of light loads or other repetitive tasks that can contribute to upper limb disorders (ULDs).

HSE is to run a 1 day course on 'Upper Limb Disorders Risk Assessment of Repetitive Tasks' on

Thursday 7 March 2019 at its laboratory near Buxton, Derbyshire.

The course is targeted at organisations that carry out some manual production, processing, packaging, packing or sorting activities and wish to undertake upper limb disorders risk assessment and control.

Suitable for employers, their representatives, health and safety managers and other occupational health professionals, the course will equip you with the knowledge to use the ART tool to help recognise, assess, and reduce ULD risks.

This course is scheduled to run again in July 2019.

Stress: From Intervention to Prevention

Stress: from Intervention to Prevention

Improve Your Approach to Tackling Work-related Stress

Is your organisation doing enough to tackle work-related stress and mental ill health?

Work-related stress accounts for 57% of all working days lost due to ill health (equivalent to 15.4 million days lost to stress).

This is why many pioneering organisations are incorporating the topic within their wellbeing initiatives, helping to raise awareness of the issues, break down stigma and protect their people.

Join us for a one-day event to reflect upon, re-evaluate and refine your current approach to managing work-related stress.

We'll focus on putting in place preventive measures that avoid harm, and demonstrate the importance of a holistic approach that can include support initiatives such as mental health first aid, mindfulness and resilience training.

We'll also bring you up to speed with the latest thinking from HSE specialist inspectors who will explain how the enforcement approach is evolving.
