Process safety training for high hazard industries

Train for the new NEBOSH HSE Certificate
in Process Safety Management in just 5 days

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and NEBOSH have jointly developed a new Occupational Safety and Health Qualification specifically for process industries.

From Monday 1st to Friday 5th April 2019, HSE will run a 5-day training course that leads to the new
NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management.

The course will take place at HSE's laboratory near Buxton, Derbyshire and focuses on the prevention of catastrophic accidents and near misses associated with loss of containment of energy or dangerous substances such as chemicals and hydrocarbons.

It is lead by tutors who have a wide range of process safety experience gained through HSE's activities in the onshore chemicals and offshore oil & gas industries.

Given the hazardous nature of these industries, this qualification has been designed to give process safety knowledge and understanding to managers, supervisors and safety professionals to ensure that they can contribute to the effective management of process safety risks.

Candidates are assessed by a 90 minute multiple choice examination. Those who successfully achieve certification will gain not only a sound breadth of process safety knowledge but also a recognised qualification that can enhance their career prospects.

Get full details of the course and qualification and BOOK YOUR PLACE NOW.

Can't make the April course? Later dates are available in June, October and December 2019.

LEV system

Learn the Practical Management of
Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) Controls

Poorly controlled exposure to dust and fumes cause significant work-related ill-health each year.

While local exhaust ventilation (LEV) is the most common method of controlling workers' exposure to airborne contaminants it can often be ineffective.

Employers regularly select and install LEV controls of the wrong specification for the job. This means that good money can be invested in a solution that simply doesn't work. This situation is worsened if installed LEV controls are not properly checked and maintained.

On Wednesday 10 April HSE is to run a 1 day course 'LEV - Practical Management of Local Exhaust Ventilation Controls' at its laboratory near Buxton, Derbyshire.

Previously featured in Safety and Health Practitioner (SHP) magazine, this innovative, practical and lively course was developed by Dr Mark Piney (former HSE Principal Specialist Inspector and main author of  HSE LEV guidance, including HSG 258) and HSE staff. It is delivered by HSE specialists in LEV.

The course will demonstrate how to successfully manage LEV controls in order to get effective, efficient, and reliable control of airborne contaminants, at least cost.
It is aimed at employers, Health, Safety & Environment managers, engineers, including production and design engineers and those responsible for production, building facilities and maintenance.
