Hand Arm Vibration Refresher training from HSE

Update your knowledge and clinical skills to assess workers exposed to
hand-transmitted vibration

Join our 1 day refresher course on Wednesday 17 April
♦ LIMITED PLACES REMAINING ♦

Hand-arm vibration comes from the use of hand-held power tools and is the cause of significant ill health (painful and disabling disorders of the blood vessels, nerves and joints).

HAVS is a complex condition that requires practitioners to have a good understanding of the anatomy and neurology of the hands. Examination skills are difficult to maintain if they are not regularly practised.

The implications of poor practice or misdiagnosis are significant for both the employer and the employee.

On Wednesday 17 April 2019, HSE is running a 1 day course - Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) Refresher - at its Science and Research Centre near Buxton, Derbyshire.

Presented by HSE's Dr Jon Poole MD FRCP FFOM and Dr Howard Mason PhD, the course covers a range of HAVS-related topics including risk assessment, standardised tests, clinical assessment and differential diagnoses and clinical management.

'Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) Refresher' is aimed at occupational physicians, occupational health nurses and general practitioners with an interest in occupational health who have successfully completed the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FOM) 2-day Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome course.

COMAH Training from HSE

Get clarity on COMAH compliance

The Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations 2015 (COMAH) aim to prevent and mitigate the effects of major accidents involving dangerous substances that could seriously harm people and/or the environment.

Those establishments using or storing quantities of harmful substances that exceed the lower of the thresholds specified by COMAH are known as Lower Tier Establishments.

On Thursday 2 May 2019, HSE is running a 1 day course on COMAH Compliance for Lower Tier Establishments at its Science and Research Centre near Buxton, Derbyshire.

Designed for managers/supervisors of new lower tier COMAH establishments or anyone wanting to refresh their understanding of COMAH, this course identifies the COMAH duties for Lower Tier establishments and what needs to be done to comply with them.
It also explains the duties that fall to the Competent Authority (CA) and Local Government.
