Dust-related site inspections beginning

dust

Starting next week, our inspectors will be visiting sites across the UK to assess how they are controlling dust....

Make sure you know the risks, plan your work and use the right controls by viewing our free dust-control guidance.

Workers can support our campaign by getting involved and downloading #Dustbusters resources.

The construction is one of the industries where dust is a prominent issue. Our leaflet explaining how to prevent or adequately control the risks from construction dust can be downloaded here.

Equip your workers with health and safety knowledge

train

All employees need to know how to work safely and without risks to health.

Clear instructions and information, as well as adequate training, must be provided to all workers, whatever the nature of the job.

Our Health and Safety Made Simple website provides advice to help you decide exactly what level of training and information is needed. Remember that some staff may have particular training needs.

Our leaflet Health and safety: A brief guide to the law is free to download. It provides a five-step approach to help employers ensure they are complying with the law.

Focus on farms

ag

Last year, 33 people were killed in agriculture across Britain - a death rate around 18 times higher than the all-industry one.

Make sure you download our free guide 'What a good farm looks like', which will help you understand the common risks to health and safety on farms.

It is also the time of year when some farms may be thinking about hosting 'open farm' events, inviting members of the public to visit their farm so they can witness farming first-hand.

Open days are informative, engaging and rewarding, but it is important that visitors are safe and risks are managed and controlled. Find out how more about successfully managing an open farm event here.
