HSE NEBOSH Process Safety Management

The NEBOSH HSE
Certificate in Process Safety Management

07-11 October 2019, Buxton

HSE and NEBOSH have jointly developed an Occupational Safety & Health Qualification specifically for process industries.

HSE's 5-day course leads to the new NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management.

The course focuses on the prevention of catastrophic accidents and near misses associated with loss of containment of energy or dangerous substances such as chemicals and hydrocarbons.

It is lead by tutors who have a wide range of process safety experience gained through HSE's activities in the onshore chemicals and offshore oil & gas industries.

Given the hazardous nature of these industries, this qualification has been designed to give process safety knowledge and understanding to managers, supervisors and safety professionals to ensure that they can contribute to the effective management of process safety risks.

Candidates are assessed by a 90 minute multiple choice examination. Those who successfully achieve certification gain not only a sound breadth of process safety knowledge but also a recognised qualification that can enhance their career prospects.

Incident Investigation training from HSE

The NEBOSH HSE
Introduction to Incident Investigation

17 October 2019, Buxton

This 1-day qualification sets out not only the 'why' but also the 'how' of incident investigation.

If investigations fail to identify all of the causes of incidents, or they focus only on the individual involved, opportunities to improve work methods and improve risk controls may be lost.

The NEBOSH HSE Introduction to Incident Investigation equips learners to run investigations unaided, create and deploy action plans to help prevent recurrence or a more serious incident.

This stand-alone qualification is aimed at anyone who conducts investigations, such as supervisors and line managers. No specific previous training or qualification is needed.

Potential benefits include safer working methods, more effective controls and fewer incidents.

Managing ageing assets

Managing Ageing Assets

Creeping Changes, Data Trending and
Experience from Incidents

Thursday 17 October 2019, Buxton

The safe management of ageing assets is becoming increasingly important as the UK's industrial base ages. This has been highlighted by HSE's inspections of ageing onshore and offshore plant.

The ability to assess and manage risks related risks can extend the life of ageing assets and enable investment in necessary repairs or replacement to be prioritised.

Correctly managing ageing assets helps both to protect workers and to sustain profitability.

HSE is to run a 1 day course on 'Managing Ageing Assets – Creeping Changes, Data Trending and Experience from Incidents' on 17 Oct 2019 at its Science and Research Centre in Buxton.

This course addresses managing ageing assets in high hazard industries, or any industry that relies on equipment or technology. It focuses on three broad areas of ageing plant management:

  • identification of creeping changes
  • management and trending of data and
  • lessons learned from HSE's investigation of ageing plant incidents.

Aimed at safety professionals, engineers and managers who are responsible for managing ageing assets on their site, the course will cover how to identify creeping changes using a HAZID methodology developed by HSE and published as guidance by the Energy Institute.
