Protecting new workers

intro2

Workers are as likely to have an accident in the first six months at a workplace as they are during the whole of the rest of their working life.

People are at particular risk of injury when they are new as they may be unaware of existing or potential risks. Take a look at our advice to protect those new to a job, including six steps to protect new workers.

We also have guidance to help users and suppliers of agency/temporary workers, and those workers themselves, understand their health and safety responsibilities.

Offshore health and safety

offshore

All workers have a right to work in places where risks to their health and safety are properly controlled and that includes those working in the offshore oil and gas industry.

Take a look at our website for information on offshore health and safety law

We also have offshore topic pages, which show how HSE's Energy Division tackles the wide spectrum of health and safety activity required by the offshore oil and gas industry.

Workers in the offshore industry can join our workshop on 31 October in Aberdeen to address the health and safety effects of longer offshore tours of duty.
