Preventing fire in the workplace

Most fires are preventable. To prevent fire in your workplace, employers must carry out a fire risk assessment and keep it up to date.

Our website has general advice on fire safety, which explains what those responsible should do.

 

There are also case studies, as well as guidance on dangerous substances that can cause fire and explosions.

New Chief Executive takes the reins at HSE

Sarah Albon, HSE's new Chief Executive, took up her post this week.

Ms Albon's past roles include CEO of the Insolvency Service and Deputy Director of Criminal Legal Aid Strategy at the Ministry of Justice.

 

Sarah said: 'My focus will be on continuing to deliver improvements in health and safety performance as our workplaces move into a future with new challenges, new technologies and new opportunities.'
