Information on Brexit

eu exit

Your duties to protect the health and safety of people affected by your work will not change with Brexit.

You will need to continue to manage risk in your business in a proportionate way.

We have made minor amendments to regulations to remove EU references but legal requirements will remain the same as they are now. Health and safety standards will be maintained.

Our Brexit website is a useful source of information and explains the preparations businesses need to make.

Displaying the law poster: A must for all businesses

law poster

If you employ anyone, you must display the health and safety law poster where your workers can easily read it, or provide each worker with the equivalent leaflet or pocket card.

The poster explains health and safety law and lists what workers and their employers should do. There are various versions of the poster, so you can select the most appropriate for your business, depending on where in the UK your business is based.

You can download the law poster for free, or purchase hard copies at the HSE Books website.

Health and safety law pocket cards (pictured) are a simplified, easy to read, version of the poster - ideal for workers to carry with them around the workplace.

Hand-arm vibration exposure calculator updated

havs

HSE's hand-arm vibration (HAV) exposure calculator helps estimate and record workers' exposures to HAV and compare them with the actions values in the regulations as part of a HAV risk assessment.

It includes drop down vibration magnitudes for common tools from HSE's HAV database that can be used to make cautious estimates of exposure before representative in-use data for specific tools is available.

Access the revised calculator here

There is a HAVS Refresher course being run by HSE Training and Events on 2 October. You can book your place(s) here.

Discovering Safety is a large and ambitious scientific programme delivering health and safety benefits through a data-driven global community.

The programme, funded by Lloyds Register Foundation and delivered by HSE, aims to improve health and safety on a global scale by using new insights from data and novel analytical techniques.

Discovering Safety aims to use these insights to make significant impacts through education, practical improvement initiatives and commercial tools and services.
