April is Stress Awareness month, a timely reminder to reach out and have conversations about stress and mental health where you work. HSE's statistics show 914,000 workers were suffering from work-related stress, depression or anxiety in 2021/22, and 17 million working days were lost due to stress in this period. Our Working Minds campaign aims to prevent work-related stress and encourage good mental health. You can find a list of support and resources (.pdf) that are free to download and share. HSE's guidance for managing stress at work includes information about a stress risk assessment. Other useful resources include our Talking Toolkit, which can help structure conversations with workers to help prevent stress at work. | A worker was fatally injured when using a metal grab to unload a concrete building product from some trailers. HSE's investigation found that the company did not have a safe system of work for the use of the grab and had not carried out a risk assessment to identify risks for its use. Both the grab and a forklift truck being used were in poor condition and should not have been in service at the time of the incident. Read this press release for more details on the incident. Other recent prosecution cases include: There has been a revision to the Personal Protective Equipment at Work (Amendment) Regulations 2022. The date by which products placed on the GB market must be UKCA-marked has been amended to 1 January 2025. There are 2 specific exceptions to this requirement: - qualifying Northern Ireland goods can continue to be placed on the GB market bearing the CE marking or CE and UKNI markings after 1 January 2025
- CE-marked PPE that was placed on the UK or EU markets before 1 January 2025 (before the expiry of the Transition Period) and has not yet reached its end user may continue to circulate on either market until it reaches them
