You must display the poster where your workers can easily read it and you can't print a copy yourself. There are a range of free resources which support the campaign to help you manage the risks on site. The campaign is raising awareness of health issues in relation to moving and handling materials to improve the long-term health of those working in construction. When on site, HSE inspectors are checking that employers and workers: - know the risks
- plan their work to eliminate or substitute the risks, where possible
- where that is not possible, use sensible control measures to protect workers from aches, pain and discomfort in joints, muscles and bones known as musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).
Make use of the following free resources to help promote change and protect construction workers' long-term health: | The fine followed an incident where a worker was crushed to death during maintenance work at a quarry. The worker was part of a maintenance team that was repairing a feed hopper. He had been standing on a conveyor that was located under the feed hopper before the repair work started. The conveyor was then inadvertently switched on, trapping and fatally crushing the 26-year-old worker. HSE's investigation found that the haulage company had failed to ensure the feed hopper was properly isolated before the repair work commenced.
