Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) include injuries and conditions that can affect the back, joints and limbs, which can reduce a person's quality of life. You can develop a MSD or it can be made worse through work. HSE statistics show that in 2019/20, 480,000 workers suffered from work-related MSDs. This accounts for 8.9 million working days lost due to work-related MSDs. Employers must manage the risk of MSDs in the workplace. HSE offers two courses designed to equip employers and employee representatives with the knowledge to help recognise, assess and reduce MSD risks in their organisations. 7 September 2022 HSE Science and Research Centre, Buxton £525 per person This course covers the key methods of assessing manual handling tasks, including the Manual Handling Assessment Charts (the MAC tool) and the Risk Assessment of Pushing and Pulling (RAPP) tools.
